Message-ID: Hello fellow Walcot riders! I've spoken to many of you on the Sunday rides about my little adventure in Switzerland this August and thought, as I'm attempting to raise a large sum for a specific and small charity close to my heart, I'd see if I could catch any of you in a generous mood. I'm going to race the Inferno Triathlon in the Swiss Alps on 22 August. It will be the toughest event I have ever attempted (swim across a freezing lake, 18 000ft climbing on road and mountain bikes then running 7200ft up to the top of a 10 000ft mountain!), and as a group like you will appreciate - training crazy long hours to prepare for it. I am doing it to raise funds for Malaika Kids, the charity for AIDS orphans in Tanzania with which I worked as a volunteer last summer. It'd be great if you'd sponsor me, using the website below: www.bmycharity.com/richardfawkes If you have problems making the donation online, can you please send a cheque made out to ?Malaika Kids? instead (with taxpayer status and address for Gift Aid)? Flat 4, 6 Portland Place, Bath BA1 2RU. Once again the 'Weather Gods' haven't blessed us but we've had less rain than predicted so far today so I see no reason to cancel like last month. I will be time keeper and will be up at the start/finish line shortly before 6-30pm regardless of the weather. If you want to ride I will be there! If it stays dry I will cycle up and do a lap to check the course so I can get an indication of what to expect on your laps. If it's raining, I'll be in the car but will still do a lap to check conditions. Barry has already won the series and retained the much coveted 'White' club jersey but 2nd/3rd/4th places are still up for grabs. I will bring along the current standings should anybody want to check how many points they need etc. It's likely to be a bit murky on our way back to Bath so be sure to bring some form of lighting to keep yourself visible.
